  1. PARENT CENTRAL SERVICES AND OUTREACH

Where is my child on the waiting list and how can my position change?

Due to the high demand of child care on Fort Meade, our waiting list changes on a daily basis. Your child's position on the waiting list can move up or down depending on the placement of other families with priority such as a single Soldier, the age of your child, type of waiting list, and/or the date your application was processed. The status of a child's placement on our waiting list is available by contacting Parent Central Services.

Can I place my child on the waiting list prior to arriving at Fort Meade Garrison?

Yes, any family member that is eligible to use CYS Services can be placed on the projected waiting list at any time, even prior to arrival at Fort Meade. Unborn children can also be placed on the waiting list for child care. The sponsor must submit the waiting list application (Child Development Program Request for Care Record) and the waiting list policy letter that can be found on the Parent Central Services webpage. Both documents can be faxed to Parent Central Services at 301-677-1148.

What does it mean to update on the waiting list?

Our waiting list policy Letter states that updates must be made to maintain "active" status on the waiting list every 90 days. There is a high demand for infant care in the centers so plan ahead and place your unborn infant on the waiting list as soon as you find out that you are expecting. Failure to update your waiting list status will result in the loss of your current position. Updates can be done in person or via phone through Parent Central Services at 301-677-1149/1156/1104/1105.

How do I terminate care for my child?

A termination form must be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to your child's last day of attendance to the program director. Until a termination form is received, your registration holds a slot in the program. You will be held responsible for all fees incurred from the time of registration until the approved date of withdrawal. You will be charged for two weeks of service if written notice is not presented. Vacation and/or leave credit cannot be used in lieu of cancellation notice.

Can I register my child or children online?

Through WebTrac, our online payment and registration tool, you can start a new registration online. If you are transferring to Fort Meade from another Army garrison, you do not have to start a new registration at your new location. You can visit your current Parent Central Services office and request an export of your household file. Your information will be waiting for you upon arrival at Fort Meade. To complete your new or transferred registration, you will need to visit the Parent Central Services office so we can update any changed information, calculate your fee category, obtain your signature to seek emergency medical treatment for your child, and validate shot records and other required documents.

    What is proof of eligibility?

Children of active duty military personnel, Reservists and National Guardsmen on active duty and during inactive duty training, Department of Defense appropriated and non-appropriated civilian personnel and DOD contractors working on Fort Meade may use services provided by CYS Services delivery systems.

You must provide military ID, Civilian Welfare Fund card or contractor civilian ID card with a letter from your employer that states you are a DoD contractor employed on Fort Meade at time of registration.

Eligibility for care ends upon end term of service, termination of sponsor's DoD employment or termination of DoD contractor's employment on Fort Meade. A two-week grace period is provided to allow the sponsor to find alternate care.

Retiring active duty military personnel will be allowed to continue using CYS Services as long as enrollment is uninterrupted.

Priority for full-time care will go to parents who are working full time (25 hours or more) or are a full-time student (12 hours undergraduate or nine hours graduate level per semester).

Patrons who are offered a space, but the spouse is not working or in school, will be given 60 days to find employment or enroll as a full-time student.

In addition to eligible patrons described above, children of military retirees are eligible to participate in the Middle School/Teen occasional use/open recreation, Middle School hourly programs, SKIES (instructional classes), and sports.

More information can be found on the CYSS webpage.

Why can't I use my W-2 or Income Tax Forms instead of my LES to show my Total Family Income?

For active duty sponsors or spouses, the LES shows all of the military pay entitlements (i.e., Basic Pay, BAH, BAS, Fly Pay, Parachute, Special Duty) which are needed to determine your total income. For DoD civilians, eligible contractors and spouses, a current pay stub is required. W-2 or Income Tax Forms are only accepted when the spouse is self-employed.
