From April 1990 to October 1996, the Ann Arrundell County Historical Society published a series of articles by Roger White in its quarterly publication, Anne Arundel County History Notes. This six-part series, entitled "The Stars Wore Stripes: GIs Entertaining GIs at Fort George G. Meade and Overseas, 1941 - 1945", examined the important role musicians, comedians, actors, and others in the entertainment industry played during World War II.
